American cherry, shaped into an oval wide enough to hold a room. The inner edge is tapered on a profile, the glass receding into the form rather than resting against it.
At the back, half-lap joints form the structural grid. Two slots on the back allow the piece to hang horizontally or vertically without hardware. The locking mechanism that holds the glass is also made entirely of cherry.
A concave rear edge pulls the frame from the wall, leaving a continuous shadow gap around the form. The mirror reading as something that hovers rather than hangs.
Made to order. Wood is a natural material, so grain and colour may vary, making each piece one of a kind.
