Sghemba Shelf
Sghemba, part of Atelier Mateus collection, reflects a shared approach to making: solid French oak, traditional joinery, and a belief that construction itself can generate expression. Inclined dividers meet perfectly level shelves, creating a quiet structural tension that shifts with every point of view.
Designed by Giotto Pagani, Sghemba belongs to his ongoing research into microarchitecture, the translation of architectural thinking into domestic-scale objects. Geometry alone defines the piece, allowing structure, proportion and perception to become its only ornament.
Traditional Joinery
Devotion to craft means facing every step with the same consistency, solid wood, hand-cut joints, choosing time over speed. The standard doesn't waver. The back of a mirror, the underside of a chair, are shaped with the same care as what faces the room.
Some joints are left proud on purpose, visible rather than hidden beneath the surface. It's a choice, not a rule, traditional joinery can be done just as well out of sight. But when we choose to let it show, the joint becomes part of the design itself, not something to conceal.
That care is what leaves with every piece. It's carried out by hand, by a team that has spent years learning what the wood allows and what it doesn't, and it shows in the details others wouldn't think to look for.
